INTERVIEW

Let’s start from the basics. Can you tell us a little about your background and how you first became interested in art?

I grew up in a religious family, surrounded daily by the Qur’an and the sound of its recitation. As my family has always been deeply rooted in Islam, this spiritual environment became part of my very being. From early on, art was a bridge between spirituality and personal expression. My love for art grew alongside this foundation and eventually guided me toward creating works inspired by the Qur’an and spirituality.

You have over 15 years of artistic practice. How has your work evolved during this time?

My journey initially began in the world of design, particularly fashion design, which gave me a strong understanding of form, colour, and composition. Over time, this path evolved into digital painting, where I discovered my personal language and began merging spirituality with contemporary expression. Today, my work has further transformed as I present as the lead artist of One Four Art Gallery, where a dedicated website focused on Islamic art is being developed. My works are now being published online for exhibition and sale, highlighting digital art inspired by Qur’anic verses and the creation of new forms of typographic expression.

Your art often emerges during prayer and reflection. How does spirituality guide your creative process?

All of my artworks are created spontaneously and flow directly from the spirituality within me. Qur’anic verses settle deeply into my heart and mind, and then crystallise into artistic expression. This natural and inner process is the driving force behind my creativity.

What inspires you most when choosing Qur’anic verses or symbols to include in your work?

My inner peace inspires the creation of my artworks. Typically, I select a Qur’anic verse and reimagine it in my own way, integrating it into a series of designs and paintings. This becomes a fusion of spiritual inspiration and artistic innovation.

You combine traditional Islamic art with modern abstract forms. How do you find a balance between tradition and innovation?

It is essential for me to remain rooted in Islamic traditions and calligraphy, while at the same time reinterpreting these elements for today’s audience. Tradition provides depth and authenticity, while innovation allows me to speak tocontemporary viewers. This balance creates a dialogue between past and present that opens toward the future.

Calligraphy is central to your practice. What does this form of expression mean to you personally?

I portray Qur’anic verses in a completely different way, almost as though I am creating a new form of typography where each letter is reimagined and reshaped. This is not merely a reproduction of script; it is a deeply personal and spiritual experience that comes alive in each work.

Your works are known for creating spaces of peace and contemplation. What do you hope viewers feel when they experience them?

I hope viewers can perceive some of the spirituality and inspiration that flows through my works. Establishing a connection between the audience and the artwork is deeply important to me. My aim is not limited to a Muslim audience. Rather, I seek to engage anyone who resonates with the lines, colours, and techniques, allowing them to connect with the work in their own personal way.

Can you walk us through your creative process, from the first idea to the finished piece?

My process always begins with inspiration. I then choose a verse or symbol that aligns with this moment and begincreating spontaneously. There is never a fixed final plan; the work evolves organically throughout the process. Improvisation, silence, and focus are integral to the way each piece takes shape.

You’ve exhibited widely in Dubai and beyond. Which exhibition or collaboration has been the most meaningful to you so far?

One of the most significant exhibitions for me was World Art Dubai, where I had a large booth showcasing more than 20 works. The feedback from the audience was highly positive and deeply engaging, making it an invaluable experience. In addition, over the past few years, I have been working as the lead artist of One Four Art Gallery, a collaboration that has played an essential role in presenting and developing my artistic journey.

Looking ahead, what are your goals and aspirations for the next chapter of your artistic journey?

I aspire to be recognised in the art world as an artist who has introduced a new style of digital art inspired by Qur’anic verses. My goal is to expand this unique visual language internationally and create a bridge between spirituality and contemporary art. At the heart of my vision is the desire for the blessings of these Qur’anic verses to enter every home, so that the energy within each artwork flows through the living space. I also aim for my creations to become a harmonious fusion of classical design and contemporary aesthetics in home décor, allowing each piece to carry both beauty and spiritual resonance.
