Al-Tiba9 Contemporary Art is pleased to announce its participation in the international fair ArtsLibris Barcelona 2021.

This year, ArtsLibris reaches its twelfth edition, which will take place on June 18th, 19th, and 20th at the “Espai Fossat” of Mercat de Sant Antoni Barcelona, with the collaboration of Mercat Dominical del Llibre.

Eighty-seven editors and artists, institutions, and art schools of Barcelona will accompany the fair with their publications. Forty percent of the exhibitors come from outside of Barcelona.

Although some Latin American and European publishers and artists will not be able to travel this year, their publications will be present at the fair. In addition, The ARTSLIBRIS Fair will strengthen the online activities to feel closer to those who will not be able to join us in person.

ArtsLibris was founded in 2009 as a publishing fair project specializing in artist’s publications, photobooks, contemporary thought, self-publishing, and digital publications. It has three annual fairs, ArtsLibris Barcelona, ARCOmadrid and ARCOlisboa. Dialogue and experimentation are the main hallmarks of ArtsLibris, whose fairs host curatorial projects, seminars, debate forums, exhibitions, performances, and interdisciplinary collaborations. The project functions as a living fabric, a plural, and rigorous publishing community, creating new meeting points between art and society through the book object.

ArtsLibris International Fair of Contemporary Editions will see the participation of several international exhibitors, alongside with important cultural institutions from Spain, such as CCCB - Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona, MACBA - Musée d'art contemporain de Barcelone, Fundació Mies van der Rohe, Fundació Miró, Museum Picasso, Museu del Disseny HUB, and of course Al-Tiba9 Contemporary Art among others!

On this occasion, we will host an art talk during the fair, entitled "GO DIGITAL - How to build an established digital presence for successful art publications and cultural institutions". The talk will be held on Friday, June 18th at 3 p.m. (Barcelona time) and streamed online on ArtsLibris website.

We showcase our Limited Edition Magazines and Artist's Books of established artists such as Mounir Fatmi Officiel, Phil Akashi, Marina Gasparini, Pavel Korbička, and much more... We also have the honor that our curator Mohamed Benhadj will open the fair with Art talk titled: "GO DIGITAL. How to build an established digital presence for successful art publications and cultural institutions." to which artists and galleries from around Europe are invited to participate.

Moderated by Al-Tiba9 founder and curator, Mohamed Benhadj, the talk will see the participation of visual artists Carolina Serrano and Alec Von Bargen, and gallerists Miguel Leal Rios (UMA LULIK_ Gallery - Lisbon) and Paulo Nunes (Galerie Alex Serra - Cologne).

Mohamed Benhadj

Founder and Curator of Al-Tiba9 Contemporary Art

Driven by his vision of a common global platform to provide growth opportunities to emerging artists in contemporary art, Mohamed Benhadj established Al-Tiba9 in 2013. His focus has been on the international exhibition of modern art, performance, and fashion design, promoting the exchange between art institutions and artists gathering in an Arab social-cultural environment. In 2014, Mohamed extended his philosophy to Barcelona, Spain, where he gave his art exhibitions in 2017 a new touch by merging performance and fashion design as an alternative platform for independent designers to freely express themselves and introduce them to the art world.

Mohamed Benhadj has been carrying on his journey for over ten years now, collaborating with the Ministry of Culture, Museums, Art Institutions, Embassies, and Art Centers. He became the most active curator from Algeria, a cultural partner, and Ambassador of the Arte Laguna Prize, a famous art competition in Arsenale of Venice, Italy. His goal is to create a new pole of contemporary art in North Africa, offering the world a unique experience of creativity, possibility, and growth like no other around the globe.
