Miguel Garcia - Marques de Jadraque | Painting
Miguel Garcia - Marques de Jadraque, a Spanish artist born in Palencia, began his artistic journey at the School of Arts and Crafts in his hometown, later continuing at the Royal Artistic Circle of Barcelona and the Free School of the Mediterranean. Focusing on portraiture, he traveled across Europe and North America, honing his skills. In the 1980s, he relocated to Los Angeles, California, where he expanded his repertoire to include bar scenes and still lifes while collaborating with galleries in Mexico, Hong Kong, and California. In 2007, Miguel moved to New York, establishing a studio in Red Hook. A decade later, he moved to London, where he worked until 2024. That year, he returned to his roots, opening a studio in Palencia, where he now spends most of his time.
Since childhood, Miguel has been captivated by the human figure, movement, and light. He employs a diverse range of materials, including oil, charcoal, pastel, cement, ink, acrylic, and spray paint, selecting mediums that suit each series he undertakes. Drawing inspiration from daily life, travel, literature, other artists, conversations, and film, his work reflects the richness of his experiences. Currently, he is developing a "Storks" series inspired by his homeland, while also exploring emotional figurative abstraction. Miguel now divides his time between London, Brooklyn, and Spain.
