Israel González Élan - Portrait

Israel González Élàn is a multidisciplinary artist based in Mexico City, whose work explores transcendence and the human-cosmos connection. With a background in Graphic Design and a Master's in Visual Communication, Élàn blends digital and traditional techniques, painting, silkscreen, printmaking, and collage, often using ultramarine blue to evoke the sea, the unconscious, and the sky, symbolizing a balance between nature's opposing forces. His art seeks to restore the lost link between humanity and the universe, suggesting that the visible world conceals deeper realities. Influenced by alchemy, metaphysics, and esoteric traditions, Élàn adopts an intuitive, experimental approach.

A key concept in his work is the “torana,” a symbolic threshold from Indian spirituality, representing the passage between the mundane and the sacred. For Élàn, such thresholds, expressed through sounds, words, and forms, act as maps that connect consciousness to reality, emphasizing the vibratory nature of existence. He sees art as a field where such connections and coincidences reveal the unity between the cosmic macro and micro, and the organic relationship of parts to the whole. Unlike some who use esoteric ideas as mere formal structures, Élàn treats them as foundational perspectives, making each work both a phase and a manifesto.

His work has been exhibited internationally, including at Galería Hilario Galguera (Mexico City, 2023), Gallery AU (Paris, 2022), LOOT (Mexico, 2022), Biennale di Venezia (Venice, 2021), Casa Decor (Madrid, 2021), and Cadena Gallery (New York, 2019).
