Fernando Medina Gómez - Portrait
Fernando Medina Gómez is a multidisciplinary artist and junior at Parsons School of Design in New York City. Born in Mexico City, he graduated from La Escuela de Lancaster A.C. and has since developed a growing international presence through his exhibitions and creative exploration. At the age of thirteen, Fernando lived in Québec for a year, an experience that shaped his early worldview and allowed him to learn French. Later, at nineteen, he moved to New York to begin his college education. Fernando’s practice centres on creating realistic and surrealistic works grounded in the belief that aesthetics and technique should serve as the foundation for expressing a concept. He firmly believes that to break the rules, first you should be very good at following them. Inspired by collected quotes and philosophical ideas, his art often captures moments that feel both familiar and otherworldly, drawn from reality and delicately placed on paper or canvas. Through this approach, he gives form to thoughts and beliefs, inviting viewers to reflect, question, and interpret each piece in their own way.
“I’m not here to tell a sad story or cry about my past; my background will always be reflected in everything I create, never imposed.”
