Evgeniya Korkunova | Photography

Evgeniya Korkunova (b. 1984, Moscow region) is a multidisciplinary artist and photographer whose practice originates from documentary photography and has gradually evolved into post-documentary, installation-based, and object-oriented approaches. Working with photography, still life, and spatial elements, she explores emotional perception, memory, and subtle states of reality.
Her practice is based on an exploration of the boundary between the real and the surreal, where even the most realistic subjects may contain elements of the unexpected or magical. Korkunova works with natural light, found objects, textures, and locations, allowing details and material presence to shape the atmosphere of each project. Rather than constructing images through post-production, she builds meaning through physical interaction with space and materials.
For Evgeniya, the creative process is intuitive and observational. She often begins from a specific location, engaging with its character and gradually incorporating objects and elements that resonate with its emotional tone. In her installations and still lifes, objects function not merely as compositional elements but as carriers of memory, metaphor, and context.
She has participated in international exhibitions, art fairs, and residencies, including BREEZE Art Fair (Seoul), CICA Museum (South Korea), and GlogaAIR (Berlin). Evgeniya currently works between Moscow, Seoul, and Europe, developing site-sensitive projects across cultural contexts.
