Chelsea Brown | Photography & Drawing

Chelsea Malia Brown is an artist, writer, and 35mm film photographer who lives with and creates work about chronic and mental health conditions. Her work is an outlet for processing physical and emotional pain, celebrating the body, and reclaiming lost power. She studies balance and imbalance in all mediums through light, color, and their absence. By creating work about her experiences, she aims to de-stigmatize and spread awareness of the reality of living with both and push back against the current healthcare system. Growing up on a llama farm and living in isolated areas like central Oregon and Alaska as an only child gave her endless time to foster her imagination. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and minor in poetry from the University of Washington and worked as the Studio Manager for Chihuly-trained internationally renowned glass artist Martin Blank and Media Coordinator for the Bryan Ohno Art Gallery, in charge of gallery management, curation support, and marketing. Since then, her artwork, writing, and 35mm film photography has been published and exhibited around the world.
