Alexandra Taoukidou - Portrait
Alexandra Taoukidou holds an M.F.A, graduating with Honors in 2022 from Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece, where she is originally from. Her work has been exhibited in the OSTEN Biennale in the National Gallery of North Macedonia, France, Greece, etc. Her artistic practice has been supported via Artist Residencies such as the Na Lapoule Art Foundation in France, 2024, and JupiterFab in Mexico, 2025. Alexandra lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland.
Essential elements of her visual language are the exploration of relocation, the emotional states it generates, and the objects that characterize it. Focusing on the nuances of spatial transition, whether humans define it as βhome.β Drawing has been a sincere tool, valuing its versatility and subtlety. Media used are pencil and graphite powder, rarely including coloured pencils.
The process begins by translating images from a personal photographic archive on paper, modified or dismantled to serve a new purpose. By layering past blueprint designs, Alexandra aims to construct a sense of architectural identity. Her current focus is on how spatial memory functions, acknowledging that remembrance shifts and transforms depending on emotional and cognitive factors. Childhood is considered the early beginning, the homeland of all individuals. Her work provides an introspective invitation to the viewer: a momentary return to their own point of origin and personal topographies.
